Is the hills have eyes a typical horror film
Hypothesis: horror films have typical conventions which appear in all horror films things such as representation of women and how they are presented in films, also they have to have a villain character that is able to intimidate the audience. The hills have eyes is different from other horror films due to its scientific story line but could it be classed as a typical horror film?
For my independent study i will be looking at the hills have eyes and if it can be called a typical horror film, i will be focusing on women’s roles in horror and compare the female characters roles in the hills have eyes to female characters roles in other films such as psycho. Also i will be looking at the original the hills have eyes 1977 to see the similarities and differences that could have been effected because of the time period.

Migrain Analysis:

The font used in the beginning of the trailer shows the military story behind it, the fact that it talks about the US army dropping bombs it would make anyone interested in that topic interested in this ..
0film, also it shows issues that are relevant today as Americas army has been in the media for many different reasons.
The lighting is dark giving the film a sinister feel to it.
The use of non diegetic sound allows the film to have a real feel to it, by hearing things you would be used to hearing in the scene it allows you take the film in a realistic way, and therefore when the scary bits happens it makes them more shocking then other films.
Also from the trailer the audience can hear the screams of the characters which confirms the audiences thoughts of it being a horror film.
